Concours jeune artiste du Manitoba (JAM)

Concours JAM is a singing event for 13 to 19 year old students. It will be a lot like a “Manitoban Idol” only all performances will be delivered en français. By a process of elimination, participants will progress through to the semi-finals and the finals. It is important to remember that you are not evaluated on your French language skills, but on your voice and your performance. This event is perfect for anyone who is ready to accept a challenge and have fun!

Participants will have the option of performing a cappella or by accompanying themselves with an acoustic instrument of their choice (to be supplied by the participant). An electric piano will be available. High quality stage microphones will project sound, but no instruments will be amplified directly (except the piano).

N.B. PARTICIPANTS CAN NOW PERFORM WITH THE ACCOMPAGNIMENT OF ANOTHER STUDENT WHO IS 13 TO 19 YEARS OLD!!

Those who progress to the finals will have the opportunity to rehearse with a live band comprised of world class artists, and deliver their final performance with the accompaniment of this band. Additionally, one of the judges evaluating the final performances will be a cultural celebrity!

Everyone who participates in Concours JAM will receive a Certificate of Cultural Merit, which is a valuable addition to any employment portfolio. Semi-finalists will receive a Pin of Cultural Merit. The 3rd Place Winner will receive a plaque and $250. The 2nd Place Winner will be awarded a plaque and $500. The individual named the Jeune artiste du Manitoba will walk away with a trophy and $1000.

Concours JAM will be held over two days at the beautiful Collège universitaire du Saint Boniface. The general competition and the semi-finals will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 and the finals will be on Sunday, March 14, 2010.

Jeune artiste du Manitoba is an opportunity to celebrate French culture and the French language. It is a great chance to meet different people from all over Manitoba. Most importantly, it is going to be a lot of fun. And who knows, it just might be you who is named the Jeune artiste du Manitoba. So get excited...
